The sad reality is most of us are connected to cancer in one way or another. Perhaps you’ve lost a loved one or are battling the disease yourself. At Evict Radon, our focus is on lung cancer. Radon is the number one cause of lung cancer in non-smokers. Lung cancer is one of the most difficult cancers to screen and often is very hard to treat.

The Charbonneau Cancer Institute at the University of Calgary is hosting a free lecture series Late Night Lab at Studio Bell. Their next lecture is Cancer 101: Causes to Cures. Join us and come learn  from the cancer experts and find out what cutting age research is taking place here in Calgary.

Learn more about:

  • trends in cancer diagnosis from Dr. Darren Brenner, a Research Scientist specializing in cancer risk prediction;
  • trends in cancer treatment and precision oncology from Dr. Paola Neri, Scientific Director of the Precision Oncology Hub at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre; and
  • new developments in immune-based cancer therapies by Dr. Douglas Mahoney, a Research Scientist with expertise in cancer immunotherapy.

Chairing the event will be Dr. Jennifer Chan, Deputy Director of the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute and an expert in neuropathology and childhood cancer.

We will also have live scientific demonstrations, hosted by some of our brightest trainees, that showcase a few of the techniques we use to study cancer in the lab.

Light refreshments will be served after the talks.
