Attention (July 1st, 2025 - present): Update on Potential Canada Post Strike.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has initiated strike action, including a nationwide overtime ban. On June 16th, CUPW members were asked to vote on Canada Post’s comprehensive offer to CUPW.

As this situation continues to evolve, the Evict Radon National Study continues to take precautionary steps to minimize disruptions caused by any interruptions in postal service. Radon test kits will continue to be shipped out until a potential strike has officially commenced. Return shipping may be affected, and we are recommending that participants continue to test until the situation is resolved. Read more about return shipping here.

July 2, 2025 Update: Potential Canada Post Strike – Notice on Return Shipping

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has initiated labour action, including a nationwide overtime ban.

Return shipping may be affected. Given the current uncertainty with Canada Post, we recommend continuing radon testing over the summer. This decision was not made lightly, and the main reason we recommend longer testing is:

When you “end” a radon test, the radon device continues to measure radon until it is received by the lab. We have tested the return process and know that this does not affect radon test results. However, if a strike commences, we have no way of controlling for the extra radon that a testing device will measure. This means that if a radon test is delayed in transit for an extended period, the reliability of the radon results will drop significantly over time. If enough time has passed, the results will no longer be valid.

With this, there are some options to consider:

  1. Continue to test until we know more about Canada Post. Please sign up for an email reminder below.
  2. Send the device back by alternative courier. You can send the device(s) back by UPS or FedEx. However, please note that this option will incur additional fees. The address to send the device back is:

    Karin Dumais
    Radon West Ltd.
    482127 Highway 783
    Okotoks, Alberta
    T1S 1Z6

  3. You can send the radon test back via Canada Post. However, please note that with the potential for a postal strike, you are assuming the risk of possible delays. If your device is delayed and results are lost, the Evict Radon National Study cannot be held liable. A replacement kit would need to be purchased at cost if you wish to retest.
