Important Note for all participants selected for our additional studies:

Test kit shipments will be delayed until late August to ensure that we capture part of the heating season in our data collection. All participants who are selected by email invitation will be notified in August when their test kit has shipped. Thank you for your involvement in our research.

Additional Research Opportunities

Canadian scientists are taking the next step in understanding how radon gas impacts our health, and you can help! We’re currently recruiting participants for two innovative research projects: the Radon Toenail Study and the Radon Disability Study. These studies explore how radon decay products can build up in the body over time and whether certain populations, such as people experiencing disabilities, may face greater risks. By participating, you’re contributing to vital public health research that could shape national policies and protect future generations. Whether you’re submitting a few toenail clippings or completing a long-term radon test, your involvement can make a lasting impact. 

 

The Current Research Opportunities we are Recruiting Applicants for are Detailed Below:

The Radon Exposure and Disability Study explores how radon impacts populations in Canada, including people who are living with disabilities, including hearing, vision, mobility, pain, mental health, and more. To be eligible, selected participants must be experiencing a disability and have lived in their current residence for at least five years. If selected, we will send a radon test to your primary residence, which must remain in place for 120 days. Participants will be asked to complete three online surveys. 

The Long-Term Radon Exposure Biomarker (Toenail) Study is a unique opportunity to help Canadian researchers develop new ways of measuring a person’s long-term exposure to radon. Participants must complete a 120-day radon test, complete three online surveys, and submit 120 days’ worth of toenail clippings. These clippings are analyzed for the presence of radon decay products, offering insight into long-term radon exposure for individuals in a way that we hope will be helpful for future exposure assessment and lung cancer screening.
