Attention (June 1, 2026 - September 1, 2026): Summer Radon Testing

SUMMER RADON TESTING: 6-MONTH RADON TEST RECOMMENDED

Common practice states that winter is the optimal time for radon testing. However, as we collect more data, we have determined little difference between winter and spring radon testing. We do, however, encourage our participants to test over seasonal change. At this time, the best and most accurate radon readings obtained during the spring and summer months are those that are longer than 6 months. With this, you have three options:

  • Complete a 180-day (6-month) radon test now.
  • Wait until September and complete a radon test lasting 91+ days (3 months).
  • Test for an entire year.

Thank you for your participation in our research. Please reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions.

Updates on Canada Post Strike.

Sept 25, 2025 Update: Canada Post Strike – Notice on Return Shipping

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has initiated strike action, halting regular mail services.

As this situation continues to evolve, the Evict Radon National Study continues to take precautionary steps to minimize disruptions caused by any interruptions in postal service. Return shipping is as of now, paused until regular mail delivery resumes. Given the current uncertainty with Canada Post, we recommend continuing radon testing. This decision was not made lightly, and the main reason we recommend longer testing is:

When you “end” a radon test, the radon device continues to measure radon until it is received by the lab. We have tested the return process and know that this does not affect radon test results. However, with a strike, we have no way of controlling for the extra radon that a testing device will measure. This means that if a radon test is delayed in transit for an extended period, the reliability of the radon results will drop significantly over time. If enough time has passed, the results will no longer be valid.

With this, there are some options to consider:

  1. Continue to test until we know more about Canada Post. Please sign up for an email reminder below.
  2. Send the device back by alternative courier. You can send the device(s) back by UPS or FedEx. However, please note that this option will incur additional fees. The address to send the device back is:

    Karin Dumais
    Radon West Ltd.
    482127 Highway 783
    Okotoks, Alberta
    T1S 1Z6
